If anyone has ever messed with grapevines, you'll understand what I write.
We have two long rows of vines, some for the table, some for wine. None have been trellised, yet. Now with the growing season gearing up, those plants are just going nuts! We have vines EVERYWHERE! And little clusters of grapes at every node. I swear, everything just popped double time this year -- double the flowers on the trees, double the keys on the maples, double the grass seed heads, double the allergies...
My husband is in the process of putting in the trellis system for the vines -- a double wire system, in the shape of a "V," that allows air to move around the plants in an effort to prevent powdery mildew from taking over. Now, if we can only figure out a way to keep our dogs from eating all the grapes like they did last year, I'll be happy!
