Job hunting after 16 years - Phew!

Well, I've decided I need a job and the kids need to get back into school. I really enjoyed the challenges provided by homeschooling, but I've missed adult contact terribly. In a rural area, I've found that the lack of age-appropriate activities (most activities take place after public school lets out or focuses on the pre-school set) within a short driving distance makes it very difficult and expensive to drive around searching for adults with whom to relate. So, a job is in my future and it has be an interesting experience getting my act together for one!

Just putting together my resume was a test of skills. It took me two days of near constant work to put it together in a way that illustrated my skills without looking overly creative. Then, I had to round up references; that's a tough task when you haven't worked in years! Lucky for me, I've kept in contact with some important people in my life who know my work and personal skills. Thank-goodness they were willing to back me up after all this time!

The biggest obstacle I think I'll find in my job search will be finding job postings that are IT-related and fit my managerial skills well. I am excited about the possibilities and have applied for one position already. This will be a huge change in my life, but I am ready for it. I am SO ready!
