Phew! I hadn't realized that it has been more than a year since I last posted to my personal blog! Wow... Not that many people read it, but it is fun to write and good exercise for my fingers.
I am a winemaker, I make wines mostly out of oddball fruits because I don't have access to organic wine grapes in my area. I'm working on growing them, but the deer love the vines, too! Blueberry wine is my favorite followed by wild-cherry wine. Wild cherry? Yes, the wild black cherries and choke cherries that grow all over the place. They are a pain to pick, especially this year with the fruits ripening at different times, but they make a beautiful wine. I also make pawpaw and blackberry wines, and I'll try peach wine this year (because the pawpaws and blackberries got frozen out with a late freeze in April this year).
My favorite recipe site for wine recipes is Jack Keller's site . I found a blueberry mead recipe there that I bottled this summer. I think it will be great in a year or two; the recipe says don't even drink it before two years and they are not kidding; it is very young tasting right now and it is only a year old! I'll make more of it this year because I think it will turn out to be one of the better wines for just sipping, definitely not for slugging back at dinner. :)
